Topic: Smart Fire Calorimetry Driven by Image Analysis and Artificial Intelligence; Zilong Wang, PhD, Research Centre for Fire Safety Engineering, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, 2022 Student Research Grant; research presented at IAFSS 2023; The identification and quantification of fires play a crucial role in mitigating their destructive impact. However, traditional fire measurement methods are not applicable due to the lack of equipment in most fire scenarios. To enable smart firefighting and scientific decision-making, it is essential to enhance the acquisition of pertinent fire-related data from real fire scenarios. This presentation details a novel image-based framework for the identification and quantification of fires to characterize fire behavior.
